Diverse groups of people in a society often experience the impacts of climate change differently. Racial or cultural minorities can suffer the effects of climate-induced stressors and shock more acutely than do other groups, reasons for this often times stemming from historical and institutionalized oppression. Papers and presentations can speak to related issues, such as the realities of racial and gender inequalities in society, how this is or can be addressed within the framework of climate resilience planning, and how such solutions can promote equity. An exploration into effective mechanisms for a meaningful engagement with diverse groups within society and examining climate adaptation actions that incorporate holistic responses to inequities are also encouraged.
